Wise Choice Software developers of RightClick, software for jewelry retailers, wholesalers & manufacturers

RightClick FAQ

A: We sell two separate software products—both based on the same RightClick software engine (which means they share the same source code)—RightClick Velocity and RightClick Atlas. In the simplest of terms: Velocity is for retailers of any size and wholesalers with under 5-employees, and Atlas is for large wholesalers and manufacturers. There are other differences between the two products, but basically, the jewelry industry is very diverse and must be handled by two software products. Back
A: If you are a retailer or a small wholesaler (under 5 employees), RightClick Velocity is most likely perfect for your needs. You can purchase the software and pay once or license it with payments of $95 per month. When you purchase a monthly license you also receive telephone support. What’s best is that it’s NOT like a cell-phone plan-where you are charged a penalty if you terminate early-you pay $95 per month for as long as you wish to use RightClick Velocity. Don’t want to pay any more? Just contact us to discontinue the monthly payments and there will be no further obligation. Back
A: You sure can. We offer the same monthly license payment plan. For as low as $195 a month, you can be up and running today. Many companies use our monthly licensing plan to test drive RightClick Atlas for a few months before making a larger investment, others use the monthly plan to keep cash in the bank and manage costs. As with RightClick Velocity, you can cancel at any time. Back
A: RightClick is written in Microsoft’s Visual Foxpro, which is a database-based language. Back
A: We have been developing the next generation of RightClick for some time. While we ordinarily keep this type of information under wraps, we can say it is being programmed with Microsoft’s Visual Studio (a mixture of C# and .NET for those of you in the know) and it will use SQL as the database. RightClick companies will have a seamless migration to this new version of RightClick. We’re most excited about creating new features for the industry. Back
A: The current version of RightClick is 32-bit. RightClick is not 16-bit and it is not based on old DOS software. The next version of RightClick will be 64-bit so your investment in RightClick will not become obsolete. Please note there are several reputable software firms in the industry promoting their software as “64-bit” and they are not telling the entire truth. If you encounter these claims, ask them: 1) Is their accounting software 64-bit? 2) Is their database 64-bit? 3) How much does the 64-bit database for their software cost? 4) What do I need to run your 64-bit version? Buyer beware. Back
A: We fix them. Every software has bugs and we spend thousands of hours making sure RightClick is as bug-free as possible. When a client reports a bug to us we first reproduce it in the office and then decide how to fix it. When a number of bugs are fixed we make a new update that becomes available to clients with an annual telephone support contract. Back
A: Yes and yes. RightClick Velocity comes with an import window, which allows you to import, from an Excel spreadsheet: customers; vendors; items and parcels. With RightClick Atlas, customers can purchase technical services to import their data from other software systems—which is relatively common. Exporting information is quick and easy in both versions of RightClick. Back
A: RightClick is one of the few jewelry software systems available that includes accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable, check writing, expense tracking, bank reconciliation and more. Financial reports include Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Aging reports and more. There is no need to run a separate program for your accounting and every entry into RightClick that involves the general ledger (such as a sale or credit) gets posted automatically. If you need payroll software, please note that RightClick does not do payroll. Back
A: No. In fact, roughly 30% of all clients do not purchase an annual telephone support contract. Many include clients that are overseas in England, India, Australia and Europe. Our software runs trouble free and once installed can be used without our assistance. I suggest that you put the idea of an annual telephone support contract into perspective, for instance, if you have three workstations using RightClick, the cost breaks down to only $3.97 per day! That gives your three employee access to our technical support staff for an unlimited number of calls and questions. Back
A: For starters, with an annual telephone support contract, we return calls on the same day we receive the call. That means we either pick up the call, if you remain on hold, or call you back to discuss your question or issue by 5PM EST. Don't want to remain on hold? Our support phone system provides clients with an option of requesting a call back without having to input a phone number--our phone system knows who is calling! You get to speak with a trained employee who can either answer your question or find the answer and get back to you. We speak English clearly, our support is not overseas in India or Malaysia and we take pride in our work and receive satisfaction when our clients are satisfied. Back
A: Yes. You will require a reliable and fast Internet connection at both locations, either Windows Terminal Server or a software product called Citrix and a hardware consultant that can set it up properly. Do not underestimate the importance of a qualified hardware consultant. If they are working for you after hours because they have a day job, please think twice because if you have a problem, how are you going to get immediate assistance or who will we call if we have a question or need to trouble shoot a problem. With this setup, you will be able to use RightClick at both offices and even from home. Back
A: Yes you can! Our Website Creator module offers jewelers the power to set up, update and maintain their own website. This module can work with your existing website or your website designer/consultant can link directly to RightClick database files. Back
A: I am sure your business has changed in 10 years. Maybe you were a diamond dealer 10 years ago and now you sell jewelry. Maybe you had one store and now you have five. The answer is that you’ve probably grown in 10 years, however, DOS and Unix, I assure you, have not kept up with the times.

There are advances in computers every year and your investment needs to keep up with your competition. For instance, 10 years ago there was no World Wide Web; there was no email; and most people didn’t know what a spreadsheet was. Now you should be bar coding your inventory items, receiving orders via email and your employees are probably knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel and understand databases. Holding on to your DOS and Unix systems because you spent $75,000 five to ten years ago is like laughing at the automobile from your horse and carriage. If you think you're saving money by not investing in your company, you should think twice because you're probably losing more money than you're saving.

Lastly, you are probably having a hard time finding support for your “legacy” system. Most programmers and software firms no longer use Unix and DOS simply because most of the world uses Microsoft Windows. Finding compatible hardware is getting just as hard. Back
A: It is a matter of perspective: If a large company, with fifty employees, thinks it should be spending $150,000 on software, RightClick can look cheap. A five-employee company that is growing probably thinks that spending $25,000 for a complete manufacturing software package is a large purchase. It all depends on where your company is on the spectrum. Back
A: We use Visual Foxpro and Visual Studio which are Microsoft Certified products, owned and developed by Microsoft. One bit of confusion that needs to be cleared up: Microsoft does NOT certify jewelry programs, so if someone tells you that their jewelry program “is certified by Microsoft” it’s not true. Microsoft would never expose itself to any form of liability when it comes to third party software products. Back
A: The AS400 server was a powerful number cruncher twenty years ago. Today, it pales in comparison to some of the less expensive Intel processor based servers available from HP, IBM, Compaq and others. RightClick requires a server that will run Windows 2003 Server software so, unfortunately, you will need to upgrade to a more modern server. Back
A: You can purchase modules as you need them, for instance, if you intend to take pictures of your jewelry next year, you can purchase the Photo Imaging module when you’re ready. There’s no need to purchase every module up front. Back
A: Yes. RightClick’s Inventory Tracker makes performing a physical inventory fast and easy. Depending on the value of the inventory, jewelers should probably perform a physical once a month or bi-weekly. If you perform a physical once a year, I recommend that you use RightClick Inventory Tracker to increase the frequency. When the physical is complete, simply print a report that shows items that were found, missing and matched-it’s really easy. Back
A: The Photo Imaging module allows you to attach photos to items, print photos on invoices, memos, orders, job bags and other reports. The Catalog Maker requires the Photo Imaging module and does a whole lot more. With the Catalog Maker you can produce HTML pages, set up a CD catalog (which you can distribute to customers and it will automatically display your catalog when the CD is placed into the computer) and it offers a lot of different catalog page styles to choose from. If you just need photos on reports and on screen then you probably don’t need to purchase the Catalog Maker module. If you want turn your jewelry photos into presentation quality catalogs for customers, then you will probably want to get the Catalog Maker. Back
A: Yes. Each window and report in RightClick can be protected. You can protect them by user, by level or by group. Our security is extremely flexible and easy to understand. Back
A: Yes. RightClick Velocity can handle single and multiple tax percentages. A single tax rate is easy, it’s just one percentage. Multiple tax rates can also be setup in RightClick Velocity. RightClick Velocity can handle up to four separate percentages and each can be posted to a separate general ledger account for tracking and reporting purposes. RightClick Velocity also prints sales and tax totals by percentage rate. Back
A: The SalesForce module is what you need. This module allows you and all of your salespeople to send new orders, invoices, payments and new customer information back to the main office where it is then imported into RightClick on your server. Your mobile sales staff can use laptops and can look up item and customer information (security permitting) while on the road. It is an extremely powerful module, in essence, it’s an extension of your office. Back
